Postal rate increases set to go into effect Sunday will have little effect on direct mall growth, says Universal McCann's Robert Coen, senior VP, director of forecasting. In his latest Insider's Report, Coen expects direct mail to increase 7.5% in 2006, despite higher postal rates and higher paper, printing and handling costs.
In the first half of calendar year 2005, the number of pieces of mail sent at the regular Standard Mail rate, used for most advertising, increased nearly 5%. On an annualized basis, nearly 10 billion more pieces of mail ads were sent in 2005 compared to the year 2000, according to the report. |
